Marketing was born in the moment when someone decided to sell something. Even in Pompeii sings were pasted up proclaiming circus, gladiators matches. Marketing methods have changed a lot and have improved their effectiveness, evolving through time and adapting to the environment, to technology and to customer's behavior. Now it is a fundamental science that creates a strong link between the company and the market. Marketing software maker Hubspot has created a infographic to show us the journey that marketing has conducted since the invention of movable type to modern days. We'll see the important role that technology has had in changing marketer behavior, even if the effect was not always that good.

Christmas ads
You can be sure that is Christmas when you are not able to watch a movie on TV, a video on YouTube or to read a blog without being bombed by ads about Christmas. They can be funny, can put tears in your eyes, but sometime they can even be boring, banal or too much sugary. Sometimes they can even be weird: if you want to check this look here and here (those ads are strange, but funny, even if unintentionally).
Whatever you think, these ads are an annual event that you cannot elude, so let's see how the companies have wished you a Merry Christmas for 2013.

A robot is reading your CV
You are always told to create an impressive Curriculum Vitae to catch the attention of HR managers and let your CV to stand out of the crowd. But what happens when it is a robot who reads our application? That's right, an increasing number of companies is using application tracking system (ATS) to screen candidates's CVs. This technique is used in the first steps of the hiring process, to screen applications, analyzing data, titles, skills, and eliminate not interesting candidates. According to HireRight 144 people apply for each entry position, but only 35% of candidates have the necessary skills for the job. Hiring managers use ATS to eliminate the CVs of unsuitable candidate, to dedicate their time only for those who have a real chance of being hired. Filtering technology screens about 75% of applicants, but what can you do to "upgrade" you CV, making it robot-friendly?
